Head of E-Commerce Job Purpose:

  • Overseeing and managing the e-Commerce department of a company with an extensive online presence.
  • Handle decision-making for the company website, social media account, and online advertising.
  • Responsible for research and development of new online marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for hiring and training the rest of the e-Commerce department in collaboration with the Human Capital Team.

Qualifications:

  • Matric is essential.
  • BCom Degree in Marketing Management
  • Sales and/or Retail Management qualification advantageous.

Experience and Skills:

  • Track record of devising sales-enhancing strategies.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Ecommerce, with a medium to large retail organization.
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Track-record in setting up eCommerce platforms from scratch
  • Strong knowledge of the latest e-commerce technologies and developments
  • Business Management.

Job Descriptions:

  • Responsible for determining the format and features of the website in order to maximize clarity and ease of navigation for customers.
  • Liaise with the Web designers to develop and alter the company’s website.
  • Responsible for new developments in the e-marketing world.
  • Accountable for research of the company’s core demographics.
  • Supervise the entire e-Commerce division and divide up employees on tasks.
  • Responsible for the department’s budget from upper management for their division.
  • Plan for e-marketing department expenditures and develop a financial plan that will maximize their resources.
  • Liaise directly with upper management and present their plans for any new advances or initiatives to improve the company’s online presence and e-sales.
  • A strong grasp of modern technology and social media is essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of spreadsheets, databases, financial analysis, website design, and e-marketing strategy.
  • Responsible for integration of payment gateway, and offers, promotions, discounts, coupons, etc.
  • Willing to work long and irregular hours when needed.
  • Required to oversee a team, meet with clients, and designers, and also present to superiors.
  • Creating a framework that transforms a company’s social media into highly profitable platforms.
  • Generate and implement new sales and marketing initiatives to increase e-Commerce sales and profitability.
  • Proven leadership of extensive e-Commerce projects.
  • Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives.
  • Digital marketing and SEO campaigns for digital platforms
  • Responsible for collaborating with cross-functional partners to manage all aspects of the e-Commerce business including, business planning, content strategy and development, promotional campaigns and other online marketing, website design, customer service, web analytics, and web technologies.
